The Action Group awarded Disability Confident Leader status.
Here at The Action Group we believe in a No Barriers approach to working and living life. Since 1976 we have worked closely with our colleagues and service users to promote the values of inclusion, allow those to choose their path in life and enrich their opportunities.
This year we decided to self-assess ourselves to ensure we are providing the best support and working environment for our colleagues that have a disability, additional support need and/or long term health condition. Already working as a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) we felt that we were in place to apply for ‘Leader’ (Level 3) status.
Over a few months we worked in partnership with the DWP and Sainsbury’s Bank, an existing Disability Confident Leader, to complete our accreditation. We have worked closely with Sainsbury’s through our Supported Employment Service, Real Jobs, and were delighted they could be involved in our accreditation. We have been really happy with the process and recently been awarded the status of Disability Confident Leader.
The Action Group is the first Social Care provider in Scotland to achieve the status and only the 13th employer*. We now share the status alongside the likes of The Scottish Government, Department of International Development and Golden Jubilee Foundation.
