Support Worker (Waking Nights) – Musselburgh

Are you a night owl? We have a vacancy for a Support Worker for waking night shifts.

We are looking for enthusiastic and engaging part-time Support Workers to help grow our Award Winning organisation.

We have created a new team to support individuals getting into their first home. For this exciting time in peoples’ lives, we need support workers who can help our service users through the transition and enable them to get the best possible start in their tenancy. For this exciting waking night role, you will be supporting individuals who have complex needs, and you are expected to stay awake throughout the night.

The job involves carrying out some routine tasks and supporting individuals as needed. Waking night shifts can start from 22:00 and finish no later than 09:15 the following morning.

  • Work is available part-time (9-36 hours per week).
  • £9.30 – £9.70 per hour, depending on qualification.
  • Location: Musselburgh

You will have the desire and ability to build and maintain good relationships; and have an organised, collaborative and flexible approach to providing the best support possible. A positive, can-do attitude is essential, and great communication skills. Does this sound like you?

A knowledge or awareness of the emotional and practical difficulties faced by our service users would be advantageous, but most important is your willingness to learn and to be creative in your approach to problem solving. Sometimes the work can be challenging, so a good sense of humour and the ability to remain calm in difficult situations is necessary.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain or develop your existing skills in an award winning, community focussed organization. If you can communicate clearly and sensitively with our service users and their families, and demonstrate an empathy for The Action Group’s values, especially surrounding confidentiality, we would love to hear from you.

Benefits include:

  • Pension
  • 24/7 employee assistance programme, with access to free legal advice and counselling
  • Good annual leave entitlements
  • Ongoing support, training and development opportunities
  • TAG Rewards – our exclusive discounts and savings programme
  • Travel time payable where applicable
  • Mileage allowance where applicable
