Assistant Advice Services Manager


The Action Group seeks a dedicated, experienced practitioner to assist in the management of its accredited Advice Services, with a focus on leading carer advice and support (this includes leading our advice service for Black Asian Minority Ethnic Carers).

  • Location: Edinburgh.
  • Hours: 39 hours per week.
  • Salary: £26,212- £27,392 per annum

The successful candidate will provide leadership and line management support for carer advisers as well as providing direct support for parent carers, living or caring in Edinburgh.  Direct support to carers will include support to maximise incomes and plan and access person-centred support for their caring situation, their health and wellbeing.

You will join a supportive, highly skilled and committed team of managers and advisers and will take a lead role in overseeing the work of a new partnership – Parents Carewell.  Parents Carewell is a partnership (lead by The Action Group) that includes VOCAL Edinburgh, FAIR Advice and Edinburgh Development Group (EDG).  This partnership will offer a range of one to one advice, group supports, and events for parent carers.

The ideal candidate will have excellent people, leadership and communication skills, and the ability to provide casework and person-centred support work. You will also demonstrate awareness of the diverse range of caring situations, the impact of caring on peoples’ lives and barriers carers face at different points of the caring journey.

Excellent knowledge and 2 years experience of providing advice around health and social care systems or welfare benefit entitlements is essential. You will be digitally competent and demonstrate a good understanding of equality and diversity issues along with a commitment to supporting people from marginalised groups.
